1. General information.

The Biostatistics Center was created to meet the needs of scientific and pedagogical workers and those performing scientific research work with the aim of professional assistance in processing medical and statistical data.

The Biostatistics Center functions at the scientific department of Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University as an independent unit and reports to the vice-rector for scientific work.

The main tasks of the Biostatistics Center are:

• consultation of scientific and pedagogical workers and executors of scientific research works in the process of processing medical and statistical data.
• co-participation in the performance of complex scientific researches, including international ones,
in the part of processing medical and statistical data.
• control over the planning and implementation of research works regarding their compliance with
the criteria of evidence-based medicine.

Statistical consulting includes:

• creating a research design, calculating the sample size;
• development of a database of clinical research projects;
• selection of statistical methods for clinical and experimental scientific research;
• presentation of research results by creating graphic images;
• ensuring the reliability, objectivity of statistical information, its adequacy to tasks.

2. Specialists of the Center.

Gutor Taras – head of the center, head of the Department of Social Medicine, Economics and Organization of Health Care;
Slipetsky Roman – specialist in statistical processing of medical and biological data, assistant of
the department of oncology and radiology of the FPE;
Kovalska Oksana – specialist in statistical processing of medical and biological data, Associate
Professor of the Department of Social Medicine, Economics and Organization of Health Care;

Classes are held on the basis of the Department of Social Medicine, Economics and Organization of
Health Care (Zelena St., 12). The list of classes and their content is given in the appendix.
